Parents Challenged by Substance Abuse
Part 2. Strategies for Increasing Recovery Rates
Fifty percent of chemically dependent clients drop out of treatment prematurely, 15% are administratively discharged, and 80% who relapse do so within the first 90 days. Addicted parents face particular stressors that increase the risk of relapse, including the challenges of parenting in early recovery and guilt about child maltreatment during active addiction. Topics include 10 Strategies for Helping Parents Successfully Complete Treatment and Recover, and the Use of Evidence-Supported Practices and Incentives to Improve Retention.
