Description:

This class meets the 15 hour “Substance Abuse” requirement from the BBS. It will cover the effects of major drugs of abuse on the brain; the neurochemistry of addiction; latest research and medical documentation that addiction to mood-altering substances is a disease; intervention, treatment options, assessment, and evaluation methods. On the second day, the class will look at the impact of addiction on the family- including FASD and learning differences; family violence and abuse; and prevention strategies – including how to increase Protective Factors and Developmental Assets in families.

CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION
This course meets the qualifications for 10 hrs of CEU’s for the following regulatory bodies:
MFT/LCSW: Course meets the qualifications for 10 hours each day of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Provider # PCE 4472
