In the month of March 2020, the state of California declared a shelter in place due to COVID-19, causing a dramatic loss in childcare access for many children and families within the City of San José. As our county and city began re-opening and re-building, the City of San José identified the need to provide childcare scholarship funding for qualified households with children under age 6 who reside in San José and are affected by the COVID-19. The City of San José and FIRST 5 Santa Clara County believe in the importance of rebuilding our community by providing access to high quality early learning opportunities.

The City of San José Child Care Scholarship Program is administered by FIRST 5 of Santa Clara County, the City of San José, the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE), Healthier Kids Foundation and other community partners.

Applicants must meet the following 3 criteria:

  1. Families who reside in the City of San José
