Families across Santa Clara County are facing uncertainty as SNAP (CalFresh) benefits pause starting November 1 due to the federal government shutdown. This means thousands of local families — and their children — may struggle to access enough food in the coming weeks.
That’s why Potter the Otter is calling on restaurants, cafés, and local businesses to step up and help feed kids in our community by joining The Potter Pledge.
What Is The Potter Pledge?
The Potter Pledge is a community promise to make sure every child has access to a meal — no questions asked.
Participating businesses commit to offering free meals (no purchase necessary) to children who show an EBT card, helping fill the gap for families who rely on food assistance.
By taking the pledge, businesses show that kindness and care are always on the menu.
What Businesses Receive
Businesses that join The Potter Pledge receive a Potter Partner Kit filled with tools to celebrate and share their generosity:
- A Potter Pledge window sign to display proudly in their storefront
- Free Potter the Otter storybooks and activity books to give to children who visit
- Recognition on the Potter Pledge website and social media celebrating their commitment to helping kids
