FIRST 5 Santa Clara County is announcing a funding opportunity through our Standing Firm for Families initiative and inviting qualified organizations to apply to our Family Preparedness grant. Standing Firm for Families is our commitment to helping families with young children remain safe, stable, and together, particularly immigrant and mixed-status families facing uncertainty. This funding opportunity is intended for organizations prepared to provide prevention-focused, culturally responsive, and trusted support so families can plan ahead with clarity and confidence.
What is Family Preparedness?
Family Preparedness is about helping families make a plan before a crisis happens. This can include:
Creating a plan for who will care for children in an emergency
Protecting parents’ decision-making rights
Making sure important documents are in place
Providing trusted, culturally responsive support
Total Funding Available: Up to $600,000
FIRST 5 may fund more than one organization. We are especially interested in coordinated proposals that bring together outreach, education, legal/technical support, and direct help for families.
Application Period: February 27 – March 23, 2026
Who Can Apply?
Nonprofit, faith-based, or community-based organizations serving families with young children (prenatal through age 5) in Santa Clara County
Organizations with strong cultural and language capacity to serve immigrant and underrepresented communities
Organizations in good fiscal standing that can meet reporting requirements
Partnerships or collaboratives (with a lead agency) are welcome to apply
We are looking forward to partnering with organizations that want to help families feel prepared, supported, and confident about their children’s future.
