Our 2024–2025 Community Impact Report Is Here: Building Stronger Systems for Families
We’re proud to share FIRST 5 Santa Clara County’s 2024–2025 Community Impact Report, a reflection of how our community came together this past year to strengthen systems, support families, and lay the groundwork for lasting change.
This year marks a major milestone for FIRST 5. We concluded Year One of the Stronger Systems, Stronger Families (SSSF) initiative, launching a bold, multi-year effort to build a more coordinated, equitable, and responsive family-strengthening system across Santa Clara County. As we transitioned from our long-standing Family Resource Center initiative into this new systems-focused approach, we deepened partnerships, aligned resources, and built the foundation for even greater impact in the years ahead .
By the Numbers: Our Impact This Year
Thanks to collaboration with community-based partners, providers, and families, FIRST 5 invested $22.7 million in programs and resources that reached thousands across our county:
- 102,000+ children supported
- 96,000+ parents and caregivers reached
- 9,000+ early childhood and home visiting providers strengthened
These investments span three critical result areas: Family Strengthening, Child Development, and Child Health, and reflect our commitment to meeting families where they are, while addressing both immediate needs and long-standing systemic barriers.
A Shift Toward Systems Change
The Stronger Systems, Stronger Families (SSSF) initiative represents an important evolution in how FIRST 5 approaches community impact. Rather than working in silos, this initiative focuses on aligning services, closing critical gaps, and supporting bold, innovative efforts that respond to what families themselves have told us they need most.
In its first year, SSSF supported:
- Place-based resource centers that provide culturally responsive, healing-centered spaces
- Critical gap strategies addressing basic needs, housing stability, health access, and safety
- Innovative efforts that strengthen resilience, leadership, and equity at the systems level
Together, these strategies are helping create a more connected and navigable support system for families with young children.
Investing in the Workforce That Supports Children
Alongside systems change, FIRST 5 continued to invest heavily in the early childhood and home visiting workforce—the backbone of healthy development for young children. Through workforce development, training, and wellness-focused initiatives, we’re supporting the people who support families, improving outcomes today while strengthening the system for the future.
Looking Ahead
Year One of Stronger Systems, Stronger Families was about listening, learning, and laying the foundation. As we move into Years Two and Three, we’re building on this momentum—deepening impact, strengthening coordination, and continuing to center equity and community voice in everything we do.
